Published on: August 23, 2011
Winder-Barrow Community Theatre is proud to announce the next show to open at the Colleen Williams Theater in the Winder Cultural Arts Center. “Delval Divas” will be performed on September 16-18 and 23-25. Friday and Saturday shows start at 7:30 pm, and the Sunday matinees are at 3:00 pm. Tickets for this special presentation are only $10 per person regardless of age and are now on sale at Winder City Hall by cash, check or credit cards (770-867-3106), and by cash or check at Pam Veader’s State Farm Insurance Office at 41 S. Center Street in Winder (770-867-1679).
This show is being performed by a group of six women and directed by Billie Nye-Muller. All profits from this show will be used to fund two separate projects for children. One project is to help fund the John Hasty Memorial Band Scholarship at Russell Middle School in Winder. Elinor Hasty, John Hasty’s widow, is playing one of the Divas in the show. The money is used each year to send a middle school band student to a special band camp. The other project is the WBCT Children’s PLAYhouse, and the funds will help pay for children’s events presented at the theater.
“Delval Divas” is a comedy that everyone will enjoy. The setting is the Delaware Valley Correctional Institute (Delval) which is low level security prison for white and “pink” collar criminals. The Divas are educated, successful, and professional women who happen to share the same address at the prison. They find themselves forced to room with an accused murderess. As the comedy builds, the Divas help save Delval, solve a murder, and then reunite on a Roman holiday. Who said that crime doesn’t pay?
Please note that tickets for this special show are only $10 per person. These rates are different from the Main Stage Season shows.
