Drama Camp Concludes First Week
Published on: June 9, 2011
Winder-Barrow Community Theatre recently completed the first week of the summer drama camp program. Over 50 students attended camp for the week and presented a program on Friday for their family and friends. Drama Camp is an annual event held in conjunction with the City of Winder’s Cultural Arts Center. Campers learned about singing and performing on a stage, learned songs, made costumes and props, and had a great time.
The younger children, ages 5 to 9, attended each morning. They performed a number of short fables for their families at the end of camp on Friday. The older children, ages 10 to 14, attended each afternoon and actually wrote their short one act plays around the theme of Broadway while learning some songs to go along with their shows. Their show was held on Friday afternoon.
The final week of Drama Camp will be held June 27 to July 1. There are a few available slots for the older children (10 to 14), and you can enroll your child by completing the forms and paying $25 for the week. Registration can be completed at Pam Veader’s State Farm Insurance Office at 41 S. Center Street in Winder (770-867-1679).
The next WBCT show will be the production of “Sinbad” during July. This show is geared for children of all ages, and tickets are only $5.00 for children up to 12. Ages 13 and up are $10.00. Tickets can be purchased at Winder City Hall (770-867-3106) by credit card with a small service fee. They can be purchased with checks or cash at Pam’s office on Center Street.
