WBCT Upcoming Shows & Events

Winder-Barrow Community Theatre will present the second show of the 2011 Main Stage Season starting on May 13th at the Winder Cultural Arts Center. “The Dining Room” by A. R. Gurney is a dramatic comedy that takes place in a dining room. The show will be presented on two weekends, May 13-15 and May 20-22. Friday and Saturday shows start at 7:30 pm, and the Sunday shows start at 3:00 pm. Tickets are on sale now, and the price is lower if the tickets are purchased in advance of the show. Seniors (55 and older), students and teachers are only $10 in advance while adults are only $12.50. You can purchase tickets by phone (credit card) at Winder City Hall at 770-867-3106 with a $3.00 service fee per transaction. They can be purchased with cash or check in person at Pam Veader’s State Farm Insurance Office at 41 S. Center Street in Winder (770-867-1679). Tickets purchased at the door are $13 and $15.
The Barrow County Food Pantry will receive a portion of each ticket that is sold since they are the WBCT Community Service Organization for this show. If you would like to bring canned or packaged goods to the show, WBCT will be happy to take the food to the food pantry. Come out and help WBCT support the local food pantry that serves so many people from this area.
Other upcoming events at WBCT include Summer Drama Camp. Drama Camps will be held two weeks in June, and registration is going on now. You can pick up a registration form at Pam Veader’s State Farm Insurance office or request one by e-mail at pam@pamveader.com. The cost of the week of camp is only $25.00, and the slots are filling up fast. There are 30 slots per session, and they are filled on a first come, first served basis. When the session is full, a waiting list will be started in case a child is unable to attend for some reason. The camp is open to children ages 5 to 14.
Auditions for the summer children’s show, “Sinbad”, will be held on Saturday, May 21st at 11:00 am at the Winder Cultural Arts Center at 105 E. Athens Street in Winder. Children and teens ages 5 and up are needed for the cast. Rehearsals will be held during May, June & July with the show opening on July 15th. If you have any dates that you will be out of town or have conflicts, you need to bring them with you to the audition along with a picture of the child.
Auditions for the third show of the 2011 Main Stage Season, “Father of the Bride”, will be held on June 5th at 3:00 pm and on June 6th at 6:30 pm at the Winder Cultural Arts Center. Actors from age 14 and up are needed for the cast, and the audition will be a cold reading. Rehearsals will normally be Monday, Tuesday, & Thursday of each week until closer to the show dates. The show will open on August 12th. Please bring a list of any rehearsal conflicts you might have as well as a photograph.
