Do you need something exciting to do for Halloween? If so, don’t miss the opening of “The Haunting of Hill House” by F. Andrew Leslie based on the novel by Shirley Jackson. This scary play will be presented October 29-31 and November 5-7, 2010 by the Winder-Barrow Community Theatre group. The Friday and Saturday shows are at 7:30 pm, and the Sunday matinees are at 3:00 pm at the Colleen Williams Theater inside the Winder Cultural Arts Center in Winder.
Tickets are going fast so be sure to get them in advance for the lowest prices. Seniors (55 and older), students, and teachers are only $10 in advance with adults at $12.50 in advance. Tickets at the door are $13.00 and $15.00. Purchase your tickets by credit card at Winder City Hall (770-867-3106) or with cash/check at Pam Veader’s State Farm Insurance office at 41 S. Center Street in Winder, GA (770-867-1679). Advance price tickets are only available up until 4:00 pm on the Friday before the show weekend.
Hill House is a vacant house in a very remote location that is shunned by all who know its sinister reputation. The present owner leases the house to Dr. Montague, an investigator of supernatural phenomena, so that he and several other people that he invites to join him can delve into the morbid history of the house and come to grips with the occult forces that have made it uninhabitable for many years. During their stay their sensibilities are soon jolted by strange and eerie occurrences. Subsequent events bring on a crisis with the evil forces of Hill House.
Part of each ticket price will be donated to the Barrow County Museum as part of the WBCT ongoing program to share with other nonprofit groups in the county. The Barrow County Museum provided the old photos of Winder and Barrow County that are hanging on the walls inside the Cultural Arts Center. Be sure to check them out when you come to the show.
